Hollyhocks to offer U8 Competitive League in 2021-22 Season

Marblehead Youth Hockey will be hosting an all-girl U8 competitive hockey league for the 2021-22
season. This will be a supplemental league with the goal of promoting girls hockey throughout The North Shore of Boston.

Games will be held on the first full weekend of Oct, Nov, Dec, and January, culminating with The Seacoast Classic in February.

All U-8 players will be invited to an optional once a month open skate which will most likely be on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5:00.

There will 4 teams of 10 players that will play under the Marblehead Hollyhocks brand. In the likely event that towns will not be able to field a complete team, we will combine players from multiple towns on one team. Games will be held at Connery Rink in Lynn or at Salem State University from 8-10 A. Two back -to-back games per weekend

Play will be conducted in a X-ice format with 2 minute line rotations. Each team will play 2 games per weekend that will be comprised of 2 -16 minute halves.

Registration will be open on April 5th 2021. An early commitment is required so that interest may be gauged, ice can be purchased, game jerseys ordered, and referees secured. A USA Hockey number is required to register. Cost is $125 per player which includes monthly regular season games, optional practices, Seacoast Classic Tournament fees and a Hollyhock game jersey.

Hollyhock Game and Attendance Policy

To promote girls hockey and ensure predictable and regular participation in the program, it is the policy of MYHA to have a girl player participate in a Hollyhock game whenever there is a conflict with a coed team game. This will ensure that the Hollyhocks have game commitment while making games more meaningful and competitive. MYHA coed team coaches and hollyhocks coaches are expected to communicate  reasonably in advance of any conflicts so that coaches can call up players from other teams if necessary. Hollyhocks are free to choose which practice to attend if conflicts occur.

This policy was approved unanimously by The Board of Directors.
